The Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) would like to correct factual errors in the Jan. 20 article, ‘Regulator working with health unit to address deadly Amberwood outbreak.’
Retirement homes do not self-regulate. The RHRA is an independent, self-funded, not-for-profit regulator mandated by the Ontario government to protect and ensure the safety and well-being of seniors living in Ontario’s retirement homes. We do this by enforcing the Retirement Homes Act to hold retirement home licensees accountable and ensure that residents are protected under the law.
