GUWAHATI: Assam is yet to submit 179 UCs (Utilization Certificates) amounting to Rs 188.19 crore to the Ministry of DoNER (Development of North Eastern Region) in various projects.
DoNER funds infrastructure projects in the north-eastern region. After successful execution of the projects, the nodal departments of the States concerned submit utilization certificates to the DoNER.
In Assam the nodal department for DoNER projects is Transformation and Development (T&D) which was earlier known as P&D (Planning and Development). However, the T&D department doesn t execute the DoNER-funded projects itself. Departments like PWD (Public Welfare Department), Power Department, Health and Family Welfare Department etc

The emergency management directors of Dover, Rochester and Somersworth are activating the Strafford County warming center beginning Monday, March 1, at 5 p.m. The center at 30 Willand Drive in Somerworth will remain open from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. each night through the morning of Wednesday, March 3.
The directors made the decision to activate the warming center due to a forecast of frigid weather beginning Monday night that will likely diminish the availability of existing shelter space. The National Weather Service is predicting overnight winds of 15-25 mph with gusts of up to 45 mph, which may bring wind chill temperatures as low as 10 degrees below zero.

To provide a solution to flooding woes in Chennai’s low-lying areas, the Tamil Nadu government has approved a stormwater drains project, to be executed by the Greater Chennai Corporation and the state Public Welfare Department (PWD) at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore.
