Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, turned 64 today.
Gadkari, who became the youngest president of the BJP in 2009, has been instrumental in a number of successful infrastructure projects in the country. During his tenure as a Public Works Department Minister of Maharashtra, Gadkari introduced a number of infrastructure initiatives, which made possible for several cities, villages to stay connected.
He is loved and respected across party line. Gadkari also courted controversies, but managed to sail through without losing his ministership.

Virudhunagar district gets two ministerial berths with veteran DMK leaders K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran (Aruppukottai MLA) and Thangam Thennarasu (Tiruchuli MLA), who were ministers in Karunanidhi government, joining his son M.K. Stalin’s cabinet on Friday.
Mr. Ramachandran, a nine-time MLA, was a member of M.G. Ramachandran cabinet too. He was Minister for Cooperation and then Public Works Department Minister in MGR cabinet.

Thiruvananthapuram, March 5 : In what is seen as a stamp of complete dominance by Pinarayi Vijayan, it s almost certain that five Cabinet colleagues of the Chief Minister along with 18 sitting legislators will in all likelihood be dropped from the list of candidates for the April 6 Assembly elections in Kerala.
Another high profile omission can be the Speaker of the Assembly, P. Sreeramakrishnan. Sources said that the CPI-M has decided to drop all those from the list of candidates who have completed two terms in office.
