DOLE allots P65M more for LGU contact tracing

SunStar + April 25, 2021 MORE contact tracers can now be hired by local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region to help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, with an additional P65 million earmarked by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). “The local governments through their respective Public Employment Service Offices (Peso) can boost their contact tracing with the additional funding,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Silvestro Bello III said. Bello said the additional fund still comes from DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) program. Tupad is a cash-for-work program of DOLE meant to aid informal workers displaced by the pandemic.
