Bonneville County to host mental health training Published Bonneville County to host mental health training IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office hosted a press conference on Monday to discuss upcoming training and information that is being offered to first responders, military veterans, community leaders and more. The training will take place from May 24-28. The week-long training is being led by a collaborative effort from Courageous Survival, the Idaho American Legion, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Idaho), among others. With an increase in officer-involved shootings and in light of the school shooting in Rigby, community leaders believed now is the time to take on the issue.

Ricky John Bruffett, 22, is charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor resisting arrest. According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by EastIdahoNews.com, Bruffett went to his neighbor’s house on North Eve Drive with a hammer and threatened the woman with the hammer, alleging the neighbor’s wife stole his laptop. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies went to the scene and the victim described the hammer. According to court documents, the witness told investigators Bruffett raised the hammer over his head. The incident left the victim feeling threatened and he went inside his house to get a pocketknife to defend his family.

The joint task force goes through Memorial Day weekend. Idaho has seen more than 43 vehicle deaths in the first four months of the year, and April alone had 11 deadly crashes. Argument between armed men leads to fatality in Bonneville County Updated at Share This Stock Image AMMON A man is dead after a verbal argument escalated into a shooting incident inside a Bonneville County neighborhood Wednesday night. Deputies were called to the 500 block of North Lakewood Avenue at around 10:30 p.m., according to a Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office news release. Deputies were advised shots had been fired. When emergency responders arrived, they found a 58-year-old man dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Investigators determined two men who are related were arguing inside a house while the victim was intoxicated. According to deputies, the victim grabbed a gun from inside the house and the argument moved outside of the home.

School shooter could face attempted murder charges; doctor says condition of victims is an absolute blessing

KSL TV RIGBY, Idaho It is an absolute blessing that two students and a custodian were not more seriously injured or killed after being shot Thursday morning at Rigby Middle School. Dr. Michael Lemon, the trauma medical director at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, said during a news conference at the Jefferson School District Office that three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and should recover. The school employee was shot one time in what Lemon described as a through and through extremity injury. He was treated and released by Thursday afternoon. One student was shot once in an extremity and may require surgery, according to Lemon. The other student was potentially shot twice, and two limbs were hit.
