IDAHO FALLS Deputies arrested a local man after a woman said he allegedly choked her before grabbing a blanket in an attempt to smother her.
On Sunday, just before 5 a.m., the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office rushed to a home on Crimson Drive after a woman called screaming that she had been smothered, according to a probable cause affidavit. When deputies arrived, investigators found 38-year-old Jason Lee Bell. He was arrested and charged with felony attempted strangulation and felony domestic battery inflicting traumatic injury.

An Ammon man was arrested Friday after he reportedly threatened a neighbor with a gun.
According to a Bonneville County Sheriffâs Office news release, Joseph David Vazquez, 37, was arguing with a group of people removing items from an apartment when he reportedly pointed a gun at one of the individuals and threatened to shoot them.
Vazquez reportedly returned to his apartment. Deputies arrived and asked him about the confrontation. He denied being involved and would not give a straight answer about whether he had a gun in his possession.
Another resident in the apartment told deputies Vazquez had placed the gun in a bag near his belongings. Deputies found the loaded 9mm gun.

AMMON – On Dec.11 at approximately 10:08 p.m., Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Ammon Division responded to the 1400 South block of Falcon Drive to a report of a male pointing a gun at people.
Witnesses told deputies that 37-year-old Joseph D. Vazquez approached individuals who were moving items out of an apartment and an argument ensued. During the argument, Vazquez pulled a handgun from his waistband and threatened to shoot one of the people involved. Vazquez eventually went inside an apartment and was contacted by deputies.
