DAVAO CITY – The municipal government of Monkayo in Davao de Oro has ordered the closure of the meat sections of public markets and a slaughterhouse from January 1 to 6 after a confirmed case of African Swine Flu (ASF) was reported on New Year’s Eve.
In a statement on Thursday, December 31, the Monkayo Local ASF Task Force said the test results of a hog came back positive for the ASF virus. The result was released on Thursday, December 31.
Last week, the ASF task force received reports of the suspected ASF case after the hog, that was supposed to be slaughtered at the MAGRO Complex, showed symptoms of the virus.
