Financial assistance for small business during shutdown

Social Share The Government of Barbados is asking operators of minimarts, village shops, rum shops and vendors to register with the Ministry of Commerce so they can receive “financial assistance” during the two-week shutdown next month. Addressing the nation in Thursday’s COVID-19 management update from Ilaro Court, Minister of Small Business, Kerrie Symmonds, said they heard the cry from this sector after Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced on Wednesday that village shops would be closed from February 3 to 17. Government will be imposing new restrictions during that 15-day window to fight the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 which is now classified as community spread.
