Economy minister launches 10-year vision for Northern Ireland

The plan s 10 key principles include supporting a greener economy and increasing innovation.
It outlines five priority clusters ; information and communication technology, digital, agri-tech, creative industries and advanced manufacturing.
Mrs Dodds said the pandemic had shown the resilience of local businesses.
The Department for the Economy is inviting representatives from the business community, academics and society to help prepare a business plan for next year. Our economy has already been dramatically reshaped by the Covid-19 pandemic and the past year has highlighted the resilience and creativity of the business community, Mrs Dodds said.

Economy Minister Diane Dodds has launched a new economic vision which she says will lead to better jobs, wages and quality of life for people in Northern Ireland.
Mrs Dodds said her department would take a number of steps to ensure that the area can compete with other small economies on a global stage.
Mrs Dodds said: “Our economy has already been dramatically reshaped by the Covid-19 pandemic and the past year has highlighted the resilience and creativity of the business community.
I learned about the Department for the Economy s new ten-year economic plan by listening to Radio Ulster this morning. This must be what being an MLA is like.

Economy Minister Diane Dodds has urged people to holiday at home this year and said this will provide a much-needed boost to Northern Ireland’s tourism industry.
Tourism NI’s new ‘A small step to a giant adventure’ campaign is encouraging people across Northern Ireland to plan staycations ahead of the indicative reopening date for the hospitality sector of 24 May.
Minister Dodds said: “There is so much beautiful nature, scenic surroundings and epic adventures right on our doorsteps in Northern Ireland.

The EU must stop “punishing” Northern Ireland over Brexit, Economy Minister Diane Dodds said.
Diane Dodds highlighted the continuing difficulties businesses in the north were having bringing in goods from Britain as a consequences of new red tape required under the terms of the Northern Ireland Protocol.
The protocol, which was incorporated into the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement to help avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland, has left Northern Ireland tied to a range of EU customs and regulatory rules.
