Purdue Polytechnic professor designs pathway to support students’ pursuit of innovation 2021 Exceptional Early Career Teaching Award: Greg Strimel Greg Strimel saw a void and set out to fill it. With a nationwide concern about innovation capacity and transformative learning experiences, Strimel, an assistant professor in the Department of Technology Leadership and Innovation in Purdue Polytechnic Institute, along with his colleagues, developed and launched a minor in design and innovation in 2018. The goal of the minor: To provide the space and flexibility for all Purdue students, regardless of major or background, to practice innovation within the context of their own ideas and develop design-thinking capabilities in authentic cross-disciplinary settings.

FHSU to host Western Kansas Technology Education Fair

Hays Daily News The 62nd annual Western Kansas Technology Education Fair at Fort Hays State University is set for Friday, April 30 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event features junior high and high school students in technology education classes to bring their projects to be displayed and judged at Gross Memorial Coliseum. Students in schools all across Kansas participate in the fair. The coliseum is open to the public for viewing the projects, which range from wood furniture and metal works to CAD drawings and drafting. Doors open to the public at 8 a.m., and an awards ceremony is set for about 3:30 p.m.

By Tisa Mason, President, Fort Hays State University David Letterman probably did much to instill the notion of “Top 10 Lists” in our popular culture. But decades before the late-night host did his thing, newspapers were culling past editions to create year-end round-ups of their top stories. Ten is a good number; after all, it’s what we can count on our two hands, so in keeping with tradition, here’s a list of the top 10 news items at Fort Hays State University this year. The list, roughly in chronological order, is certainly not all-encompassing – there are great stories and good news every day at FHSU – but it does provide a means of looking back and recounting some of the many blessings we enjoyed in 2020.
