International Festival cancelled, virtual plans underway

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Feb 1, 2021 2:33 PM The Hopkinsville International Festival has been cancelled for 2021, with plans for a virtual showcase in the works. According to a news release, that decision comes after reviewing COVID-19 trends and safety guidelines with health officials. While the International Festival won’t be rescheduled in 2021, organizers do plan to film a brief, socially-distanced video overview that will provide event supporters an opportunity to virtually experience a part of the festival that celebrates the numerous cultures that call Hopkinsville home.  Details about the virtual showing will be released in the near future. Santa Claus is comin’ to Hoptown via a fire truck to visit neighborhood families Sunday. The inaugural Santa Claus is Comin’ to Hoptown event is a collaboration between Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation, Fire Department, and Police Department, bringing Santa Claus to visit area neighborhoods with three separate, simultaneous runs beginning at 1 p.m. Each HFD truck will be followed by an HPD vehicle to safely distribute goodie bags to children. Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman said they have been looking to find unique ways to bring Christmas joy to families this weekend.
