Doha: Director of the Traffic Awareness Department of the General Directorate of Traffic, Colonel Muhammad Radi Al Hajri, has said that surveillance cameras are recording traffic violations at intersections and traffic signals.
“Surveillance cameras record some traffic violations committed by motorists like stopping in yellow box especially at intersections and traffic signals and others violations of traffic rules,” said Al Hajri while speaking in a Qatar Radio programme recently.
He said that the system of surveillance cameras was launched about six months ago but now the motorists are forced to adhere to traffic rules at these places especially at intersections and traffic signals which witness large number of vehicles.

Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has doubled its efforts to ensure smooth traffic during the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holidays.
Traffic patrols will be enhanced on commercial streets, areas around shopping malls, Eid prayer grounds and mosques, and slaughterhouses among others.

More parking lots for trucks in different areas

Doha: In a bid to limit the parking of trucks in residential areas, more parking lots have been designated in different areas of the country.
“The work is underway to establish parking lots for trucks in a number of areas of the country including in Constituency No. 13. These parking lots have been designed on large areas according to best standards. They will serve to limit the parking of trucks inside residential areas,” the General Directorate of Traffic has revealed.
The Constituency No. 13 consists of areas including Al Maarad, Al-Sailiya, New Industrial Area, Fareej Al-Manasir and Fareej Al Murra. The plan was shared in a virtual meeting organised by the Department and attended by Mohammad Hamad Al Attan, vice president of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) and representative of Constituency No. 13.

Doha: The Media and Traffic Awareness Department at the General Directorate of Traffic recently organised a number of traffic awareness activities as part of its annual plan to spread good traffic culture among motorists.
The first week included awareness lectures for communities, traffic competitions on the Department’s social media accounts, enhancing traffic safety for young people, and religious lectures.
The General Directorate of Traffic started its Ramadan programme through an awareness lecture for the Indian community. The lecture focused on the legal issues for pedestrians.
