South Africa woman held with 3kg heroin worth Rs 9 crore at Mumbai airport | Mumbai News

The drugs were hidden in the false cavity of her trolley bag MUMBAI: A 22-year-old woman from South Africa who arrived from Johannesburg via Qatar, concealing around three kg of heroin worth Rs 9 crore and 10,000 rands (SA currency), was apprehended by the Narcotics Control Bureau on Thursday morning. Khanyisile Promise Khalishwayo, a single mother of two, is the youngest woman to be arrested for drug-peddling in the recent past. The team led by the NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede, superintendent V V S Singh and other officers intercepted Khanyisile at the international airport in the city. Around 2.9 kg heroin and SA currency worth Rs 50,000 were recovered. The drugs were concealed in the false cavity of her trolley bag. During interrogation she revealed that she knowingly carried the drugs. She has been booked under the NDPS Act.

Meanwhile, gangster Chinku Pathan, who was arrested in a drug case, was admitted to Mumbai s JJ Hospital following a health issue, an NCB official told ANI.

Khan appeared before the agency in the case after a few transactions between him and a drug peddler came to light and his statement was being recorded till this evening. The NCB believes that the payments to a peddler were reportedly intended for drugs purchase and Khan was summoned to verify the details in the case pertaining to the seizure of a 200 kg drugs consignment last week in Mumbai.
