Nonstop flights to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport will be offered starting June 2, the airline announced Wednesday.
Allegiant has consistently flown year round from Portsmouth to Punta Gorda and Orlando in Florida. Last week, the airline announced Nashville as a new destination.
In the past, Allegiant has offered seasonal flights from Portsmouth to Savannah, Georgia, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The airline announced some seats for St. Pete-Clearwater purchased by Feb. 17 for travel by Nov. 17 are being sold for $59.
“Portsmouth International Airport at Pease is excited our partners at Allegiant Air continue to add flights and build their operations here. This is another big win because these new destinations are what customers have been asking for,” said Andrew Pomeroy, manager of aviation planning and regulatory compliance, in a prepared statement.

PORTSMOUTH Port City Air is protesting that a potential competitor at the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease is being fast-tracked for approval, gaining an unfair advantage in bidding for upcoming lucrative military fueling contracts.
Million Air Aviation, which is headquartered in Houston, Texas, has the backing of Paul Brean, executive director of the Pease Development Authority (PDA), which oversees the airport. In a memo to the board at its meeting Thursday morning, Brean said Million Air Portsmouth s application has met what are called the “minimum standards and requirements” to qualify as a fixed base operator (FBO) at the airport.
