PBOT, ODOT come to agreement to fund 82nd Avenue safety improvements KATU Staff
Some major changes may be coming to 82nd Avenue.
The Portland Bureau of Transportation and the Oregon Department of Transportation have come to an agreement on a plan to fund safety improvements.
Part of it would transfer jurisdiction of the road from the state to the city.
82nd is technically a state highway 213 but as the city s grown, it s been overtaken by neighborhoods and businesses and is now considered one of the most dangerous corridors in the city for pedestrians. The community has long sought a better maintained and safer 82nd, and we now have a path forward to achieving that, said John Brady, PBOT spokesman.
