Sheriff s office: Knife-wielding man shot, wounded by deputy

RAVENNA, Ohio (AP) A man armed with a knife was shot and wounded by a sheriff s deputy in a northeastern Ohio home after he lunged at officers who were attempting to arrest him on outstanding warrants, authorities said.
The shooting occurred Wednesday morning in Ravenna, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. The deputies were granted permission to enter the home and soon found the man in the basement.
The man then pulled a knife and refused the deputies repeated commands to drop it, authorities said. He then lunged at the officers, prompting one deputy to fire.

Several kids being held at an Ohio juvenile detention center southeast of Cleveland started overturning tables and spraying fire extinguishers when a fight broke out Friday evening, according to a report.
The detainees tried unsuccessfully to get into the facility’s security control room, according to WKYC-TV in Cleveland.

KENT, Ohio (WOIO) - Numerous people may face charges after an extensive drug investigation led to law enforcement agencies seizing 12 pounds of crystal methamphetamine as it was delivered in Kent, according to the Portage County Drug Task Force.
The PCDTF said the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Kent Police, Akron Police Narcotics Unit, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms joined forces to seize the 12 pounds of crystal methamphetamine being delivered to a Kent residence.

KENT, Ohio (WOIO) - Nine people were arrested Thursday after authorities seized drugs and guns during a bust in Kent.
A Facebook post from Portage County Sheriff’s Office said several items were confiscated, including:
Five handguns
Crack cocaine
Authorities from Portage County Drug Task Force, Portage County Sheriff’s Office and Kent Police Department assisted in the bust.
Additional charges are expected pending review, the sheriff’s department said.
