Border agents uncover $4 6M worth of cocaine in Home Depot buckets

Border agents in Texas seized $4.6 million in methamphetamine and cocaine in two separate smuggling attempts across international crossing points last week, authorities said.  The first seizure occurred on May 5 at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge on the U.S.-Mexico border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a news release. A 37-year-old man driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck was singled out for a secondary inspection while trying to cross into McAllen, Texas. During an examination of the vehicle, agents found 94 packages of methamphetamine inside with the help of a canine team, CBP said.

The CBP on Monday announced that officers with the Office of Field Operations at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrested an 18-year-old female resident of Edinburg, Texas, after locating 24 packages of methamphetamine in her vehicle s tires.  The arrest, which occurred on May 9, took place after the US woman attempted to cross back into the country from Mexico. Using a non-intrusive imaging examination, agents inspecting her 2016 Ford Fusion located some 64.86 pounds (29.42 kilograms) of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

On May 5, 2021, CBP officers working at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge referred a 37-year-old male U.S. citizen from McAllen, Texas driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck for further examination.
