STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Coronavirus (COVID-19) hospitalizations saw a slight uptick on Monday as three new deaths were recorded in the borough alongside an additional 67 cases.
There were 53 total COVID-19 patients being treated within Staten Island’s two hospital systems Monday, which represents a rise of four compared to Sunday’s total.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The deadline to vote for community and citywide education councils for the 2021-2023 term, including for Staten Island’s community education council (CEC) 31, is Tuesday.
Education councils are elected every two years, and elections are now open to fill all 325 elected seats for the two-year term that begins on July 1. Councils give parents a voice in shaping the policies and priorities for New York City schools.

U.S. News ranked more than 17,000 public high schools, out of a review of more than 24,000 high schools in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
The highest-ranked schools in the country are those whose students excelled on state tests, performing beyond expectations in mathematics and reading; participated in and passed a variety of college-level exams; and graduated in high proportions.
