An increase in city-wide shootings has local officials trying to find timely and cost effective solutions and requesting federal help.
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney on Sunday said the rising number of shootings across the city is tearing communities apart following a weekend where nearly two dozen people were shot and three died. One life lost to senseless violence is one too many and this weekend’s tragic shootings are another example of the rising violence that is tearing our communities apart, Kenney said in a statement.

PHILADELPHIA - A violent night in Philadelphia as one man is killed and twelve others are injured in shootings across the city.
The violence began at approximately 9:54 p.m on the 2800 block of North Bambrey Street on the highway. A 17-year-old suffered gunshot wounds to each leg while a 16-year-old male suffered gunshot wounds to the right forearm. Both males were taken to Temple University Hospital where they are listed in sable condition.
