LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – A woman was arrested after allegedly leading deputies on a chase and causing many vehicles to veer off the roadway, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At 8:16 a.m. Tuesday morning, deputies were notified of a reckless driver traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. 20, reports said.
While traveling north on Fail Road, a deputy saw a vehicle matching the description of the driver traveling southbound and passing another driver in a no passing zone, deputies said. The deputy had to pull over onto the shoulder of the road to avoid a head-on crash with the reckless driver, reports said.

Deputies identify driver killed in crash on US 6 LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. A driver has been charged with reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter for a for crash that happened in July 2020, according to the La Porte County Sheriff s Office.
John R. Niego, 60, was arrested on March 26 on charges of reckless homicide, involuntary manslaughter, two counts of criminal recklessness and aggressive driving.
On July 24, 2020, just before noon, deputies were dispatched to the 8200 block of US 6 for a crash. When they arrived, they found one of the drivers, 29-year-old Taren Abair, dead at the scene.

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – A driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated after crashing her vehicle twice early Thursday morning, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At 2:30 a.m. on April 8, a deputy was dispatched to the area of Wozniak Road and C.R. 450 North for reports of a hit-and-run crash involving a fence, reports said.
The deputy got to the area and learned of a second crash that had just occurred on Wozniak Road near Surrey Lane, about three miles south of the initial crash scene.
Nebraska pair arrested in La Porte County By: Maura Johnson
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – A Nebraska pair was arrested for drug charges during a traffic stop on U.S. 30 early Tuesday morning, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At 1:45 a.m., a deputy was stopped at the intersection of U.S. 30 ad Old U.S. 30 when he noticed an equipment violation on the back of a vehicle passing him, police said.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 6300 west block of U.S. 30.
The driver and front seat passenger of the vehicle, identified as 27-year-old Angela Gaines and 37-year-old Paul Hargrove, both from Ainsworth, Nebraska, each had suspended driver’s licenses, reports said.
Deputies identify driver killed in crash on US 35
Deputies were called to US 35 at CR 250 South for a two vehicle crash.
When deputies arrived, they located a deceased male in the northbound lanes.
The preliminary investigation revealed Adam Fedorowicz, 67, was traveling southbound on US 35 in the right hand lane when he suddenly turned left in the path of a Jeep traveling southbound in the left hand lane, deputies said.
The Jeep came to rest on its roof in the northbound lanes of US 35. Fedorowicz s Nissan came to rest in a grassy median south of the intersection.
Deputies spoke with the driver of the Jeep who said Fedorowicz s Nissan turned in front of her leaving her no time to react and avoid the collision.
