TWO men will appear at court again next month after police officers were allegedly assaulted as they broke up a group congregating on Weymouth seafront. Dorset Police say officers were called to the Esplanade early on Friday, January 15 after a group were said to be breaching coronavirus rules were told to leave the area. Alexander West, aged 44 and of Blandford, and Peter Gareth Doyle, aged 34 and of Weymouth, were charged with assaulting an emergency worker. West has also been charged with obstructing a constable in the execution of their duty.
“I was concious up until the ambulance crew got there,” he said. “I briefly remember being in the helicopter going to Southampton but by then I had drugs put into me. I was so cold but that was because I was in shock. “Then I woke up after having two lots of surgery. The first operation to remove my spleen was done but they couldn’t stop the bleeding, so I had to go in again for a second surgery.”
