ALEXANDRIA BAY — Results are in for River Hospital’s first-ever virtual Polar Bear Dip, with the event surpassing its fundraising goal to bring an echocardiogram to the facility.

“I’d pay not to Jump” Perfect. There’s a way to make that happen this year.  Of course there is. In our world of ‘virtual’, Camp CaPella is no exception. They have announced their Annual Polar Dip is happening. This year there will be 3 options to participate and help raise the much needed funds to run the camp.   If you thought that saying “I’d pay not to jump” would get you out of the fund-raising, there is a category called Jittery Jumper. It is for those of us who have said no way am I jumping into ice cold water, but I can make a donation.

Reel in the big one at this weekend’s fishing derbies Share RAYMOND For those looking to reel in the big one, the Sebago Lake and Cumberland County Fishing Derbies are scheduled for this weekend on Sebago Lake and all legal waters in Cumberland County. Derby officials confirmed this week that the derby on Sebago Lake will take place, but continued to caution fishermen to check the lake’s ice depth often as conditions can change quickly. Proceeds from the annual derbies, hosted by the Sebago Lake Rotary Club in cooperation with Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, will benefit a number of charities, including the Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn, the RSU 14 Backpack Lunch Program and Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

Officials say speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash.
