Candlelight vigil held to pay tribute to martyred policemen

Islamabad:A candlelight vigil was organised by Islamabad Police at D-Chowk to pay tribute to martyred cops and express solidarity with their families.
The candlelight vigil/demonstration was attended by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat, Advisor to Prime Minister Ali Awan, senior police officials, members of civil society, traders and media representatives.
The pictures of police s martyrs , especially portraits having details about their sacrifices and courageous acts were also displayed. The participants lit the candles and offered Fateh for the departed souls of martyrs.
Collective efforts stressed to save youth from drugs

Islamabad : Inspector General Police Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman has called for collective efforts to save youth from drugs.
He was addressing a seminar in connection with use here under the auspices of Islamabad police. The IGP said that the police were working on the eradication of drugs from society. He underlined the role of ‘ulema’ for minimizing the use of drugs.
He was of the view that the police were also being made accountable when it comes to action against the drug-users and suppliers. He said many of the police officials have been penalized for their abetment to the crime. The IGP also invited the ‘ulema’ to sit in the conciliatory committees.
3 rounded up in woman’s assault case

Islamabad : The police have rounded up three accused involved in assaulting and disgracing a woman and her fiancé at Sector E-11/2, after a viral video of the incident on social media.
The Golra police have registered the first information report (FIR) under sections 354-A, 506-II, 341, 509, 34 PPC, against the people involved in the episode, saying that the number of accused could be more than six who were directly involved in the case.
The prime suspect identified as Usman Mirza was running a property business while others assisted him in the dealing, the people engaged in the investigation of the case, said. The police is striving for the arrest of other accused in the case.
Gender Protection Unit receives 131 complaints

Islamabad : Inspector-General Police Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman on Tuesday reviewed the performance of the Islamabad Police Gender Protection Unit.
He chaired a round-table meeting here in which one month s performance of the Unit was discussed. The meeting appreciated the role and performance of the Unit, saying it has really put a check on incidents as violence against women and children. The meeting was also attended by DIG (Headquarters) Kamran Aadil, AIG (Establishment) Dr. Naveed Atif, SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer, senior officers, members from ICCI, civil society, and officials posted on the desk of the Gender Protection Unit.
