Officers raced to The Belt Atlantic apartments in Richmond, Virginia, after they were alerted to the shooting around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Richmond Police Chief Gerald Smith told NBC12 the gunman shot at the group before a different person started firing back. He said several people were shot and at least one person was killed. The Richmond Police Department said its officers were dispatched to the scene just after 6:30 p.m. ET where they discovered two women, two teenagers and a child suffering from gunshot wounds. The unknown suspect had fled the scene and remains at large, according to police. All five victims were transported to a local hospital, where one of the women died from her injuries. WWBT previously reported that three of the victims were teenagers, but police have since said that the victims include two adult women, two teenagers and a three-month-old baby who is in serious condition, Richmond Police Chief Gerald Smith told WWBT.
