KUALA LUMPUR: A former police officer has been arrested for allegedly spreading lies about Bukit Aman CID Anti-Vice Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) officers.
Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said the former inspector, 33, was nabbed in connection with an article, purportedly about a D7 cartel in cahoots with the underworld.
The article, which contains a list of names and photos of policemen connected to the cartel, has been going viral on social media over the past two weeks. The article has created doubt and public unrest as the wrongdoings mentioned in the article involve police personnel and officers, he said in a statement on Saturday (April 17).
KUALA LUMPUR: Motorists have settled close to RM90mil in summonses via the MyBayar Saman web portal and app, says Deputy Comm Datuk Azisman Alias.
The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director said 814,622 traffic summonses amounting to RM89.02mil have been settled since the inception of MyBayar Saman on March 25. Users took advantage of the 50% discount on offer for summonses via the MyBayar Saman, which expired on Thursday (April 15). On the last day alone, 38,306 summonses amounting to RM4.2mil were settled, he said when contacted on Friday (April 16).
The MyBayar Saman app and web portal have 814,622 registered users, said DCP Azisman.

KUALA LUMPUR: The transfers of several senior police officers which were postponed last week have gone ahead without any problems.
Previously, one of the transfers involving the post of Kuala Lumpur police chief was supposed to have taken place last Friday (April 9) but was postponed on the order of the Police Force Commission (SPP).
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said the handing-over ceremony for the Kuala Lumpur police chief s post went on smoothly on Tuesday (April 13). Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin handed over the reins to Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim, who was previously the Management Department deputy director.
