Vernon took on the role of marshal for the day, helping some of his hometown’s most vulnerable residents get their COVID-19 jab. Vernon spent at day at the University of Bolton Wanderers Stadium-based Hootons Pharmacy led vaccination centre as a volunteer, taking the temperature of those arriving for the all important vaccine and directing them to where they should be. Earlier this week it was revealed that NHS England would reduce the supply of Covid-19 vaccines to the North West by a third, sparking concerns that people may have to wait to get their jab. However, Su Long, chief officer at Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group, moved to reassure people across the borough that the move was not going to affect the portion of people inoculated. She said: “Nationally, vaccine supplies into each local site now reflect the number of people who still need a vaccination in priority cohorts one to four.
Praise for Bolton s mass covid- vaccination site which opened today A MASS vaccination site opened at the University of Bolton Stadium today, led by a local pharmacy, as part of the local effort to reach as many people as possible. Hootons Pharmacy, part of the Whittle Pharmacies group and based in Lee Lane, Horwich, opened the doors to one of the suites at the home of BoltonWanderers Football Club with 40 people receiving the vaccine within the first hour. Up to 350 people a day will receive the inoculation at the site everyday. Volunteers greeted those coming for the injection while pharmacists and clinicians administered the jab in a covid secure environment where special pods had been set up.
