Dr Stephen Liversedge, Clinical Director for Primary Care and Health Improvement at Bolton CCG, administered the vaccines to the residents. He said: “As the link GP for this care home, I wanted to be the one to administer the vaccine. I know a lot of the residents and staff already. VACCINATION centres in all areas of Bolton are set to be in place by January 11 and 2,000 people have now had their first injections as the massive drive to protect the population from covid accelerates. An update from health leaders in the borough revealed that during the first 10 days of the vaccination programme, 2,000 mainly over-80s have been injected with their first dose at centres in Tonge Moor and Lever Chambers in the town centre. Medics will also be working over the holiday period and are planning to visit one care home in Bolton next week, to vaccinate all residents and staff.
THREE independent councillors have described “some” GPs as “elitist” in a stinging attack. Crompton Ward councillors, Hanif Darvesh, Martin McMulkin and Bilkis Ismail criticised some GPs in a post asking for people’s experiences of using their doctor’s surgery. They said the post was in response to being contacted by people concerned at not being able to see their family doctor in person. But the tone of the post, which has appeared on Whatsapp and Facebook, has been roundly condemned by Town Hall chiefs, health bosses and doctors, with at least one penning an official complaint to Bolton Council.
