I always admired the Little Libraries I’d seen photos of online and in busy, close-knit places like Mystic and wanted to put one up in front of our house in Bozrah. It wasn’t practical, though, living on a busy state highway with homes spaced far apart. I also didn’t want to be bothered going through the “official” little library association in Connecticut.
Maples Farm Park seemed the perfect alternative place to satisfy my desire since it acts as Bozrah’s “town green” where the local farmers market is held, and people come to hike the trails behind the homestead, walk their dogs, and the homestead itself is used for special gatherings. Once my husband Steve and I got approval from the Maples Farm Park Commission to locate a library on the property and they recommended to put it on the porch out of the weather, it opened up the possibility for a larger than normally seen library.
