Muscat: Oman’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the attack of Israeli forces in the courtyards of the Al Aqsa Mosque.
The statement by Oman’s FM said that Oman rejects the policies and procedures that result in the displacement of Palestinian people from their homes in the city of Jerusalem.
Oman asserted its firm position in support of the legitimate rights to establish an independent Palestinian state by 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Oman in 2018 to discuss peace initiatives in the Middle East with the late Sultan Qaboos. It was first such visit to by an Israeli leader in more than twenty years.

Earlier Sunday, Jordanian news outlets reported that King Abdullah II had spoken with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and expressed his support for the Palestinian people and condemned the Israeli conduct in East Jerusalem. What the Israeli police and special forces are doing, from violations against the mosque to attacks on worshippers, is barbaric [behavior] that is rejected and condemned, Jordan said earlier in a statement.
Frictions have mounted in Jerusalem and the West Bank, with nightly clashes in East Jerusalem s Sheikh Jarrah, a neighborhood where numerous Palestinian families face eviction. King Abdullah, whose Hashemite family claims descent from Islam s Prophet Mohammad and draws legitimacy from its custodianship role, said Israeli actions in the holy city were an escalation and called on it to end its dangerous provocations.

JERUSALEM: Israeli security forces on Friday killed two Palestinians and wounded a third after the trio had opened fire on a base in the occupied West Bank, police said, the latest flareup in violence after clashes in east Jerusalem.
The exchange of gunfire at the Salem base outside the northern West Bank town of Jenin came as tensions soar in annexed East Jerusalem over an eviction threat hanging over four Palestinian families.
Tamir Pero, spokesman of Israel’s border police, said Palestinian attackers armed with rifles began running toward officers and shooting.
Pero said the officers “took cover behind concrete blocks and returned fire,” killing two attackers and critically wounding a third before any officers were injured.
