The 41-year-old victim reported numerous tools, a handgun, and a 2000 silver Buick Century had been stolen. Two days later, investigators spotted the stolen vehicle at a gas station near 33rd and Holdrege Street. While the driver, 29-year-old Charles Tomes, was being taken into custody, 21-year-old Aryadne Fenin arrived back at the car. Fenin claimed it was given to them by family members and they’ve been driving it for weeks. After searching the Buick, investigators found three bags of suspected meth in the console and a backpack with glass pipes, which had meth residue inside.

Two people charged in fatal shooting over car theft in South Bend

SOUTH BEND — Two people have been charged in a fatal shooting Tuesday night stemming from a car theft. Prosecutors on Thursday charged Fred Morris, 33, with murder. They also charged Revlon Harrell, 27, with assisting a criminal, a felony, saying she initially lied to investigators about the incident. Harrell has been arrested, but Morris is currently not in custody. Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit at 235-5009, or Crime Stoppers at 288-STOP. South Bend police responded to the 2000 block of Lincoln Way West at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, after a ShotSpotter activation. At the scene, officers found a tan Buick Century crashed into a yard near the intersection of Lincoln Way West and O’Brien Street. A male driver was slumped over the front seat with an apparent gunshot wound.

South Bend Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Lincolnway West on Tuesday evening on a ShotSpotter alert that six shots had been fired.
