The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) announces the dates for its expansive 2021 exhibition, KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature, featuring work by internationally celebrated Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature. On view April 10 through October 31, 2021, the exhibition will be installed across the Garden’s landscape, in and around the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, and in the LuEsther T. NEW YORK â With COVID-19 vaccine shortages across the tri-state region, Mayor Bill de Blasio said he has been actively communicating with the White House.
While he wouldn t disclose the details of the conversations, de Blasio said he is optimistic.
âWhat I can say, I came away very confident in the direction they are taking this, he said.
Meanwhile, the cityâs latest zip code by zip code breakdown continues to show too many neighborhoods in troublesome territory, with infection rates above 10%. The Bronx, one of the cityâs epicenters in the spring, continues to lead in infection rates even today.

As the city s most impoverished borough, the Bronx has seen its deep-rooted problems exacerbated by the pandemic. It currently ranks as the state s unhealthiest county, with heart disease and obesity afflicting many in the borough. While the Bronx s unemployment rate stood at 4% in December 2019, it has soared as high as 24% during the pandemic, leaving scores of Bronx residents jobless.
But it doesn t mean all of the Bronx s successes have been obliterated. Construction of new residences remains strong across the borough, though other large-scale projects including the construction of four Metro-North stations along an existing Amtrak line and the Kingsbridge National Ice Center remain in limbo for at least five years.
FORDHAM MANOR, Bronx (WABC) An 8-year-old boy who shot himself in the head inside a Bronx apartment after finding his father s gun is expected to survive.
The incident happened inside Fordham Hill Oval in Fordham Manor at building five on the fourth floor at around 12:30 p.m.
The child s father, 43-year-old Rajon Grant, was arrested later Monday night and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
The unlicensed gun, which appears to be a .9mm., was stored in a safe in the closet, but it is unclear if the closet or safe was unlocked. There was only one live round in the gun when the boy found it.
