Officials with the Huntsman Mental Health Institute broke ground on a new treatment center Wednesday that could become a model for the nation.
With the dog days of summer coming, Charlie Ellis, with his emotional support animal, Izzie, is looking forward to a sea of change in mental health treatment. You used to just be really hush-hush, said Ellis, who lives in Sandy. You kept it under the table.
Ellis has depression and bipolar disorder and he isn t alone.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN A man is in serious condition and a Saratoga Springs police officer has serious lacerations on his finger after a critical incident in Eagle Mountain, officials say.
Police received a call about a carbon monoxide-related medical problem shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, Utah County Sheriff s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.
The Utah County Sheriff s Office and Saratoga Springs Police Department responded and found a suicidal man in a garage attempting to self-harm with carbon monoxide, Canon said. The man barricaded himself in a room of the house with a knife and self-inflicted a number of injuries.

The city of Sedona and its contractor, Eagle Mountain Construction, are set to begin the Shelby Drive Roadway Improvements Project the week of April 26.
The project consists of installing new storm drain, sewer main and water main along Shelby Drive, from Sunset Drive to just south of Stanley Steamer Drive.
Additional work includes the installation of new asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, a shared-use path on the north side of Shelby Drive and the reconstruction of driveway entrances along the project corridor. Once complete, this project will increase pedestrian safety, upgrade the utilities that serve the local community, extend the pavement life and improve the ride quality for local motorists. Work is scheduled to be complete in fall 2021.
