The decision was prompted by a letter from European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi requesting additional data on seven of the country s ten candidates. On February 13, the Prosecutors College elected ten European delegated prosecutors from Bulgaria to carry out investigations in this country on behalf of the European Public Prosecutor s Office. Last week, the EPPO s press centre told Bulgarian National Radio that the European Chief Prosecutor has sent a letter requesting more information about seven of them. According to the Unified Information Portal, over 20% of the 17,193 tests made returned positive.  There are currently 6,000 patients in hospital as 497 are in intensive care units.  A total of 3,403 patients have been discharged during the day and 138 people died. The highest number of new infections is in Sofia - 882, Burgas - 441, Varna - 272 and Plovdiv - 217 The vaccinations carried out during the last day are 8,019, or a total of 302,151 people. The revaccinations are 51,644.

BTA The Parliament approved at first reading the appointment of a new figure of an investigative prosecutor who will investigate the Prosecutor General, with an appendix to the Criminal Procedure Code (NPC) submitted by Krasimir Tsipov of GERB. 100 MPs voted in favor, 46 were against (mainly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party) and 10 abstained, BTA reported. This person must have the status of acting prosecutor with the full powers under Bulgarian law, similar to the European Delegated Prosecutors. It is envisaged that this Prosecutor will have a seven-year term, be nominated by not less than six members of the Prosecutor s College of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) and elected by the Plenum of the SJC by a simple majority.
