During lockdown, the selfless acts of kind individuals in our region has had such a massive impact on the lives of so many. A renewable energy consultant by day, Carlisle s Ian Milburn has galvanised his community through a series of fun online events during lockdown through his events firm IM Events, while raising an astonishing amount for charity. We ve probably done 7 or 8 since April last year, he explains. Initially, it was to support the NHS and we ve helped out causes such as Eden Valley Hospice, Carlisle Youth Zone and Save Our Stan appeal with donations during the past year. Their online discos have attracted participants from across the globe raising £35k in the process.

THE VICS COLUMN – by Peter Tonge THE ongoing football drought for Vics fans goes on, with a decision on what will happen delayed for a further two weeks awaiting Boris’s next pandemic announcement. However, the club is still alive and active on social media and recently, its kits have been focus of attention for various Twitter accounts. In particular, our goalkeeper kit was recently “Shirt of the Day” at the Classic Football Shirts shop on Deansgate in Manchester. The main feature of this classic design is a modern style map of Northwich, which is a collaboration with Manchester-based artist Dave Draws, who was commissioned to design the map by Northwich band The Charlatans to celebrate their homecoming gigs a couple of years ago.
