Local woman takes first place, wins new pickup in national competition

REXBURG A local woman took first place in a national competition and she’s walking away with a brand new Ford pickup.
Marquee Ricks of Newdale was awarded the prize after the final round of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Discussion Meet held virtually last week.
“From what I understand, I am only the second young farmer and rancher from Idaho to ever win the national contest,” Ricks tells EastIdahoNews.com. “The prize was great, but honestly what was even better was to bring home that big win for Idaho.”

Now that Katie Howell is the new director of retail operations at Sunflower Diversified Services, she is overseeing three separate entities within the non-profit agency.
These entities are The UPS Store, Westside Market and Beautiful Minds Art Studio. Each is located in the building at 5523 10th.
“This facility is a one-stop shop,” Howell said. “We can do anything from shipping packages and notarizing documents, to offering snacks, household items and best of all, the creations of Sunflower’s art students.”

REXBURG A Nevada man faces prison time after allegedly threatening a man he thought slept with his daughter.
The Rexburg Police Department was called on Friday after a Brigham Young University-Idaho student had been assaulted on Main Street. Christopher Paul Blackburn, 52, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor battery.
Blackburn, a retired Clark County, Nevada, battalion fire chief, allegedly punched the student in the face twice and then said “he had a gun with a bullet with the victim’s name on it” if he did not stop sleeping with his daughter, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by EastIdahoNews.com.
