Cruise holidays are still off the cards for now amid an ongoing warning against cruises from the FCDO. However, some cruise insiders are optimistic cruising could return in time for the summer. Though there has been no confirmation of a restart date for all cruises, many lines have set out preliminary return to sailing dates.
The company confirmed it has cancelled the following voyages:
Alaska seven-day Voyage of the Glaciers cruises, sailing between Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada). and Anchorage (Whittier)
Pacific Coastal sailings that start or end in Vancouver, British Columbia
Canadian Adventure sailing roundtrip from Southampton, UK
Royal Princess.
Princess is
engaged with various US and Canadian government officials to try to preserve a
portion of the Alaska and Canada, and New England 2021 cruise seasons. In the
meantime, Princess has committed to operating the Kenai Princess Wilderness
lodge along with McKinley Chalet Resort in Denali and Westmark Fairbanks Hotel

Young has introduced the Alaska Tourism Recovery Act that would temporarily allow cruise ships to travel directly between Seattle and Alaska. Regulations require the ships to make a stop in a foreign country, typically Vancouver or Victoria. In a statement, Young said the bill would provide relief for large cruise vessels, the lifeblood of Alaska’s summer tourism economy. He noted the relief would be temporary, applying only while Canadian ports are closed to the ships. “This month, Canada’s surprise decision to close their ports shocked Alaska’s communities, and has caused significant uncertainty for our small business owners and the broader tourism economy,” he said. “But if cruises can safely proceed, and I believe they can, then we ought to be doing everything possible to alleviate the stress and anxiety of families whose livelihoods depend on tourists coming to Alaska to experience our great state.
