RIYADH Abdulrahman Bin Raad Al-Hamdan, a Saudi scholarship student, never knew he would not be alive to see his dream of getting a bachelor’s degree from New York University becoming a reality, as he passed away three months before graduation. However, the university insisted on granting him the degree after his death.
The late Al-Hamdan’s friend, Ghassan Jamal, who used to meet his friend frequently, due to his work as the coordinator for Saudis in the United States, told Al-Arabiya that Abdulrahman Al-Hamdan died suddenly while in Saudi Arabia amid his family members.

RIYADH Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf said that the GCC has become the fulcrum of regional stability and equilibrium.
The GCC chief referred to the current changes and developments being witnessed at the regional and international arenas, citing the ability of the council to remain a strong pillar over the last four decades to maintain regional stability. He also said that the GCC plays a positive role to preserve world peace and security and supports global efforts to combat terrorism and uproot its sources.

RIYADH Saudi Arabia’s Human Rights Commission (HRC) said on Wednesday that people with disabilities are on the top of its priorities and it continues to take a number of measures, including holding training and awareness programs, to ensure the protection of human rights, especially the most vulnerable groups.
The commission also said it is preparing a training program that will be launched next month to train specialists who can identify sexual harassment of persons with disabilities, especially children.
The training program aims to enhance the capabilities of specialists and will shed light on the phenomenon of sexual harassment of persons with disabilities and research new mechanisms to confront and address it.

MAKKAH Mazen Derar, the head of the national committee for Hajj, Umrah and visit activities, said that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has directed the companies and establishments providing Umrah services take complete care of foreign Umrah pilgrims who are unable to return to their respective countries following the Kingdom’s temporary closure of all its borders.
Derar said that there are 300 Umrah pilgrims staying currently in Makkah while the arrival of new pilgrims who are supposed to come this week will be coordinated after the suspension of travel to the Kingdom is lifted.
