Raiders look to replicate high energy in night matchup against the Warriors

After a brash and spirited performance on Sunday, the Prince Albert Raiders will look to find a similar energy when they take on the Moose Jaw Warriors tonight. The puck will drop shortly after 8 p.m. Tune in to CKBI to listen to Trevor Redden’s call of the game. The Raiders are 2-0-1 against the Warriors so far this year. They fell 2-1 in overtime on March 14 to the Warriors, their second game of the season, before winning the Mach 27 rematch 5-2 and getting a 45-save shutout from Max Paddock in a 2-0 win on April 15. The Raider goaltenders have been very stingy against the Warriors this season. On top of Paddock’s shutout, Carter Serhyenko played the other two games, posting a .930 save percentage and 1.44 goals against average combined in the pair of contests.

As his time in junior hockey enters the home stretch, Max Paddock put together one of his best performances in the Western Hockey League on Thursday night. The Prince Albert Raiders overage netminder stopped all 45 shots that came his way at the Brandt Centre as he helped his team pick up a 2-0 shutout triumph over the Moose Jaw Warriors. “It obviously feels good to get the shutout as we’ve been pretty close to having one over the last couple of games,” Paddock said after earning the eighth clean sheet of his WHL career and his fourth in a Raiders uniform.

Wiesblatt leading Raiders in points in WHL Hub

REGINA Ozzy Wiesblatt s team-leading 19 points have provided a spark and some leadership for the Prince Albert Raiders down the stretch in the WHL Hub. “I wanted to take on a bigger role this year. We had some guys that didn’t come back this season so I knew I had to step up and be that guy for the team,” Wiesblatt said. Three of the Raiders top four point producers from 2020 didn’t return this season, including Belarus’s Aliaksei Protras, a Washington Capitals prospect. Wiesblatt rose to the occasion. He is currently tied for fourth in the Western Hockey League with 15 assists. Rookie Logan Linklater, who scored his first WHL goal in Tuesday’s 4-2 win over Regina, admires the veteran.

Once the Prince Albert Raiders offence got rolling on Tuesday night, it was hard for the Regina Pats to slow them down. The Raiders scored four times in nearly five-and-a-half minutes during the second period of play as they would go on to pick up a 4-2 victory over the Pats at the Brandt Centre. “I thought that was one of our best team games so far here,” Raiders head coach Marc Habscheid said. “We’ve lost a key defenceman with Nolan Allan leaving (for the World Under-18’s) and I thought our young guys did a good job of stepping up on the blueline and moving the puck up the ice.”
