PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A woman is alleging that a Saskatchewan RCMP officer accused of killing her brother had been harassing him for the last two years.
Cpl. Bernie Herman made his first court appearance in Prince Albert on Thursday, the day of his 53rd birthday.
He is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 26-year-old Braden Herman, who police said was found dead in a wooded area in the city on Tuesday.

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. The police chief of Prince Albert, Sask., is expected to provide an update this afternoon on the case of a Mountie accused of killing a 26-year-old man.
Cpl. Bernie Herman, who is 53, was charged with first-degree murder after police found a man’s body in a wooded area in Prince Albert on Tuesday.
Police said the dead man, Braden Herman, knew the officer but was not related to him.
Bernie Herman, who was serving with the Prince Albert Traffic Services Unit, made his first court appearance Thursday.

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - The chief of the Prince Albert Police Service says the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice has appointed two independent observers to oversee the investigation into an RCMP officer accused of killing a 26-year-old man.
Police Chief Jonathan Bergen says the observers are retired officers from other forces with experience in investigating serious crimes, but he would not give any other details about them.

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. The court case of a Saskatchewan Mountie accused of killing a 26-year-old man has been put over until later this month.
Cpl. Bernie Herman was charged with first-degree murder after police found a man’s body in a wooded area in Prince Albert.
The officer was serving with the Prince Albert Traffic Services Unit at the time of his arrest.
Police say the dead man, Braden Herman from Clearwater River Dene Nation, knew the officer but was not related to him.
