After hearing the gunshot, the person stopped by police fled on foot and the police officer immediately drove to the nearby residence where he believed the firearm was discharged. The officer found a man outside holding a firearm. This prompted a multi-agency police emergency response with officers from Spiritwood, Blaine Lake, Shellbrook and Ahtahkakoop detachments, as we well as a Conservation Officer and the Saskatchewan RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), called in to assist. It took police about three hours to capture Hildebrand. They arrested him in the backyard. A woman at the residence was taken to a safe location.
