A man responsible for performing multiple indecent acts along Prince Albert’s Rotary Trail, while joggers passed by, may not have possessed the intellectual understanding to know what he was doing was wrong. The testimony was heard as part of proceedings at Prince Albert Provincial Court on Tuesday.
Alex Norman Morin, 20, entered guilty pleas to three charges related to indecent exhibition, and one count of obstruction of a peace officer. He received a nine month suspended sentence, essentially meaning he will be on probation and must abide by a number of conditions including attend treatment and receive counseling.
According to evidence heard in court, Morin suffers from “severe cognitive issues”, and never threatened or approached any of the passers by. His actions were described as self-gratification in an area where he was visible, although it’s unclear whether he intended to actually be seen.
PRINCE ALBERT Police in Prince Albert, Sask. have charged an RCMP officer with first-degree murder in the death of a 26-year-old man on Tuesday evening. Braden Herman’s body was found “in a wooded area within the city,” authorities said in a news release. His death is being investigated as a homicide and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Police say the officer from the Prince Albert RCMP detachment is 52-year-old Bernie Herman, a 32-year-member of the RCMP. He was not on duty at the time of the incident. The officer and the victim were known to each other but are not related, police say.
