It’s a snow day for students across the Quinte region.
Tri-Board Transportation, STSCO and Mohawk Bus Lines have all pulled their buses off the road due to the heavy snow that is expected to continue.
Schools will remain open in Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board, Algonquin Lakeshore, Limestone District School Board and Whitney Public School.
Schools in Northumberland County are closed today.
Students and staff at Eastside Secondary School are expected to return to in-person classes on Tuesday.
Hastings Prince Edward District School Board announced on Thursday that a person linked to the school community tested positive for COVID-19.
The school board said that as a result of staff issues, the school would be closed today.
Parents, guardians, and students at Eastside Secondary School are being encouraged to keep an eye on the board’s social media accounts for any updates over the weekend.

Parents and guardians across the Quinte region are being encouraged to submit their comments about the upcoming school year
Hastings Prince Edward District School Board currently has a survey out. Comments can be submitted until Saturday, February 13 at 4 pm.

In consultation with our two neighbouring school boards, Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and Limestone District School Board, the following three options are being shared for input from employees, students, parents/guardians and community partners.

TORONTO Schools in four other Ontario regions will be returning to in-person learning next week, the government confirms. In a statement released Thursday morning, Education Minister Stephen Lecce said that kids within Ottawa, Middlesex-London, and Southwestern and Eastern Ontario’s public health units will return to the classroom on Monday. On the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, with the support of the local Medical Officers of Health, and with the introduction of additional layers of protection, 280,000 students in four public health regions will return to class on Monday, February 1,” Lecce said. According to the province, this means that 520,000 students are now able to continue their education in class.
