Nearly 90% of postponed non-urgent surgeries in the North have been completed

At the beginning of the pandemic in March, 17,418 non-urgent surgeries with a wait time of longer than 6 months were postponed across BC.
On May 7th, Northern Health was able to begin contacting patients for non-urgent surgeries and 4,758 people have been contacted as of November 22nd.
Since November 12th, 89% of the postponed surgeries in the North have been completed, just slightly below the province’s 90% completion rate.
The waitlist for non-urgent surgeries in the North is now at 3,853 even though 511 people have been removed from the list as of November 22nd.
