(PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md.) A 12-year-old boy from Washington, D.C., has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy, police announced Monday.
The 12-year-old, who is charged as a juvenile, is accused of shooting and killing 13-year-old King Douglas in Prince George’s County, Maryland, the Prince George’s County Police Department said.
Around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a shopping center for a reported stabbing. They found Douglas outside with a gunshot wound.
Douglas, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, died at the scene, police said.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police said they do not believe this was a random shooting.

King Douglas, of Upper Marlboro, died around 10:15 p.m. Saturday of a gunshot wound in a parking lot in the 1700 block or Ritchie Station Court in Capitol Heights. Another victim, also 13, was stabbed. He was treated and was subsequently released from the hospital.
Authorities have not released the name of the 12-year-old charged with murder. They have only said he lives in Washington, D.C. They also said the shooting did not appear to be random.
Takoma Park Teen Found Dead in Langley Park
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal assault that occurred earlier this month in Langley Park. The victim is 15-year-old Nelson Ramos of Takoma Park.
He was a 10th grader at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring.
On April 7 at approximately 3:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of the Ruatan Northwest Branch Trail. There they discovered an unresponsive male who was suffering from trauma. He was found in the wooded area off the walking trail and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ruatan Northwest Branch Trail falls within the jurisdiction of Maryland-National Capital Park Police. The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides that occur within the jurisdiction of Maryland-National Capital Park Police.
