Prince William plans vaccination town hall
On Thursday, March 4, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Prince William Health District (PWHD) will host a virtual COVID-19 Vaccination Town Hall.
Dr. Alison Ansher, director of the PWHD, and Dr. Fabian Sandoval, CEO and research director of the Emerson Clinical Research Institute, will share important information about the vaccines.
To submit questions in advance, send them to EOCJIC@pwcgov.org by Tuesday, March 2.

The COVID virus is no respecter of race or ethnicity, but its infection rate ravages Black and Hispanic communities at far higher rates that White populations. Black and Hispanic hospitalizations and mortality also occur at far higher rates than among White populations, but their life-saving vaccination rates are far below that of Whites.
The reasons are not a mystery. Black and Hispanic workers are more likely to work in essential services where transmission of the virus is more frequent, they often live in multi-generational homes, and have less access to health care.

A new Statewide Vaccine Pre-Registration System will be up and running the week of February 15, 2021.
As the Virginia Department of Health transitions to this new centralized COVID 19 vaccination pre-registration system, the Prince William Health District (PWHD) Waitlist Form will be removed permanently at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021.
At 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, you will receive a new link for the new statewide vaccination registration system.
As part of the transition to the new statewide system, the PWHD Waitlist Form will be automatically uploaded into the new statewide system. If you previously registered for the vaccine using the PWHD Waitlist Form, you will maintain your status in the waitlist queue when your registration is uploaded into the statewide system. VIRGINIA Virginia passed the 1 million COVID-19 vaccine mark over the weekend as the state slowly moves forward in getting its population vaccinated. As of Monday, 1,105,102 vaccine doses had been administered of the 1,580,800 doses distributed to the state, according to the Virginia Health Department.
As the nation nears the two-month anniversary of its vaccination program, 206,942 Virginians, or 2.4 percent of the state s population, have been fully vaccinated.
An estimated 10.5 percent of the state s population has received at least one dose of the vaccine. The first COVID-19 vaccines were given in the United States on Dec. 14.
