Riot Prosecutors Ask Court For Delay Because GAAHH, SO MUCH CRIMING

March 15, 2021 at 3:19 PM Shares0 (Photo by Win McNamee/Getty Images) The Justice Department prosecutors investigating the January 6 Capitol Riot have asked the court for more time to bring the cases to trial citing the sheer quantity of crimes and the mountain of evidence thereof. As first reported by Politico, U.S. Attorneys in D.C. have filed motions in several cases asking to suspend the 70-day trial requirement. Under a provision of the Speedy Trial Act, the court may grant a continuance upon finding that “the ends of justice served by taking such action outweigh the best interest of the public and the defendant in a speedy trial.”
