APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) â Appleton West High School is partnering with Prevent Suicide Fox Cities and Catalpa Health to host a virtual speaker series for area residents, addressing mental health amid the pandemic.
Prevent Suicide Fox Cities Board Chair Cindy Reffke says the idea came from the school, as students just returned to in-person classes last week, after being virtual learners since the spring.
âItâs really because Appleton West High School and the Appleton [Area] School District were out of school until January 19th, and we really felt that the students needed some support around mental health and mental health awareness,â Reffke told WTAQ News. âWeâre all in this together and weâre stronger together.â

A free virtual ten week speaker series on positive heath strategies begins Monday.
Appleton West High School is teaming up with Prevent Suicide Fox Cities and Catalpa Health. Prevent Suicide Board President Cindy Reffke says the programs will be available every two weeks beginning at 8 a.m.
Topics include building resilience in kids, what self-care really means and how to help a friend in crisis.
