Night Train marks birthdays of contemporary vibes player Gehn Gillece and saxophonist Steve Wilson; highlights new music from the Uptown Jazz Tenet and the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio; and continues the February Crescent City feature with music from Ellis Marsalis, and a special performance from the Preservation Hall Jazz Band in hour two of the show.

Kanaval: Haitian Rhythms & the Music of New Orleans is a three hour documentary hosted by Haitian-American and New Orleans based artist and musician, Leyla McCalla, a founding member of Our Native Daughters & alumna of the GRAMMY award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops. Leyla’s work unearthing history and musical tradition, combined with her knowledge of cultural hybridization and her own identity as a Haitian-American have given her a unique voice and perspective. Her music reflects her eclectic and diverse life experiences, projecting respect for eloquent simplicity that is rarely achieved. The program airs at 10AM starting Sunday, February 7.

Today host Kota Hotb is set to host a three-night celebration starting Friday, February 12. The 4 1/2-hour online event will not only give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the sights and sounds of the Carnival, but it ll also feature performances and interviews with top talent, including Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Emeril Lagasse.

Krewe of House Floats
Following the parade cancellation, New Orleans residents took matters into their own hands by decorating their houses to look like parade floats. On February 1, Krewe of House Floats will release a map of all of the decorated houses, so that local residents can take a socially-distant tour. If you want to take in their beauty from afar, you can still see photos of the 5,000+ house floats on the official map.
