In the wrong hands and mouths, these pills were deadly, and you can t just throw them in the garbage can and walk away. We found through some reading that the suggested disposal method was to dissolve the medication in water in heavy duty plastic bags, so that s what we did. Properly disposing of prescription meds is essential, it helps to prevent accidental overdoses and drug addiction, and a nationwide event is happening this Saturday, April 24, 2021. It s called

Prescription Take Back Day is part of the state Department of Social Services’ ongoing campaign to keep opioids like prescription pain killers from falling into the wrong hands. Secretary Laurie Gill says this is a safe, easy and responsible way we can all help prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. She says unwanted medications can be disposed of without question in a secure medication drop box at participating locations like pharmacies and police stations.
