Bollywood actors urge fans to stay home as Cyclone Tauktae approaches Mumbai coast
With cyclone Tauktae advancing over Mumbai, several Bollywood celebrities urged their fans to stay indoors and remain safe. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the cyclone is expected, and it has already reached Mumbai. IMD has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, warning of very heavy rains at isolated places with strong winds on Monday. On the same, B-town stars took to their social media and prayed for city s well being.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan shared a tweet that read, The effects of the #CycloneTauktae have begun .. rains in Mumbai .. please be safe and protected .. prayers as ever.
Cyclone Tauktae: Six die in Konkan region of Maharashtra; Mumbai Airport still closed
Of the six, three persons died in Raigad district, a sailor in Sindhudurg district while two persons were killed in Navi Mumbai and Ulhasnagar after trees fell on them, in Thane district.

MUMBAI: Six persons were killed in Maharashtra s Konkan region in separate incidents related to the severe cyclonic storm Tauktae while three sailors remained missing after two boats sank in the sea, a statement and officials said on Monday.

MUMBAI: Police personnel in Mumbai have been asked to stay on high alert and communication as well as flood-related life-saving equipment have been kept ready in view of rains and gusty winds expected on Monday as cyclone Tauktae moves towards the coast of Gujarat, an official said.
He said adequate manpower had been made available in police stations and traffic posts on the roads of the metropolis. All police stations and posts have been asked to check communication equipment like wireless sets and public address systems to ensure they are working optimally. The same instructions have been given for vehicles and life-saving and rescue items like life jackets, first-aid kits, ropes, hammers, emergency lighting, stretchers etc, the official informed.
BMC s Global Vaccine Tender Fails To Attract Bidders, Deadline To Be Extended

THE Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has received no bids for its global expression of interest (EOI) floated last week to procure one crore vaccine doses, reports

On 12 May, BMC floated a global tender for the purchase of vaccines, and the bidders were to send their queries related to the tender by 16 May. No bids were received till Sunday. We will wait till the last day of the EOI and then decide on extending the deadline for the tender, said P Velrasu, Additional Municipal Corporation (Projects), officer-in-charge of vaccine procurement.

As Mumbai braces for Cyclone Tauktae, several Bollywood celebrities took to their social media handles to request their fans to stay indoors and protected.
The powerful cyclone heading towards Mumbai coast, which has already killed six people in parts of southern India, was expected to make landfall on Monday evening in Gujarat state with winds of up to 175 kilometers (109 miles) per hour, according to the India Meteorological Department.
